Not Fake News: Meet Our Student Contributors for 2017

Here are the three students you’ll be hearing a lot from over the next few months.
Each semester, we invite teens from around the country to share their voice on the Student Edge website.
Last year, our student contributors commented on everything from solar power, climate change denialists, child detention and the #BlackLivesMatter movement to the return of Pauline Hanson, invisible illnesses, free range eggs, LGTBQI representation in the Star Wars movies and bunny refuges.
You can still check out their great work here.
Needless to say, the new batch has their work cut out for them. Meet the aspiring writers who’ll begin commenting on everything from pop culture to politics over this semester.
Andrea Au (20, VIC)

Hi! My name is Andrea. I'm in my third year of uni, studying Communications and Chinese Studies, but I began branching out to writing in my first year. I love to cook and travel (Osaka is definitely my fave place I've been to so far), as well as keep up to date on pop culture and news, while also binge-watching weird videos on YouTube. I hope you all enjoy the articles I will be posting in the coming months!
Georgia Clements (17, QLD)

My name is Georgia and I am a first-year university student eager to make my mark on the world through writing. A long-term goal of mine is to help others around the world in any way possible. Originally, I sought to become a Human Rights Lawyer. However, after inspiration from the Student Edge Writing Competitions and writing creative pieces in my spare time, I aspired to help others through my gift of writing. I moved from New Zealand in 2014, taking my passion for reading, music and animals with me and making myself at home in Brisbane. I am very excited about these next few months and hope to further develop my skills to be a Human Rights journalist in the future.
Ratria Nindita (18, WA)

Born in the hustling city of Jakarta, Indonesia, 18-year-old Ratria understood the challenges of hard work, sacrifice and staying humble from a young age. After moving to Australia, she became exposed and open-minded to things that were usually limited to her: the internet, music, skateboarding, art, Quentin Tarantino films, journalism and the diversity of people. Although she is perceived as cool, calm and collected in real life, she isn’t afraid to use her voice, spoken or written, to convey her thoughts and passions. Ratria plans to create a future for herself that will influence others to get their wheels in motion and pursue their dreams.
Jess Pabian (18, NSW)

Hi! My name is Jessica. (Don't call me Jessica; my mother calls me Jessica.) My friends call me Jess or JP. I'm a uni student, studying Communications and Creative Industries in the hopes of eventually getting some sort of idea of what to do with my life. When I'm not writing for Student Edge, you can find me smashing out a gym sesh (trying to get some gains), scrolling Instagram (jpabsy) or giving out free medium cokes at Maccas to Student Edge members and asking if they would like to add an apple pie to their order for $1.50. I love myself a good ol' dance festival; if you see me there, don't hesitate to say ‘hey’. In the meantime, please try and enjoy the articles that I'll do my best to make interesting for you all.

Thanks again to everyone who sent in an application. Remember, if you weren’t successful this time, you can have another crack in late 2017. Until then, enter our writing competitions!
