When Is "Rick and Morty" Season 4 Coming to Netflix Australia?

This delay is extremely un-schwifty.

It’s been more than two years since Rick and Morty creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon deigned to give its rabid fanbase a new episode (despite the fact the show had been renewed for 70 more eps).

They instead released a birthday song for Kanye West in that time. And though the gesture was very sweet, it was not helpful to us, personally.

For many, the wait finally ended over the weekend, when the Season 4 premiere, "Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat" aired on Adult Swim in the United States. It’s the first instalment of the five-ep fourth season, rolling out between now and 8 December 2019.

There’s just one problem: it’s not available in Australia. (And after we honoured them with that Aussie spin-off starring "Reeek and Morteeee"!)

Previous seasons of Rick and Morty have been (relatively) fast-tracked down under, with episodes debuting on Australian Netflix within a week of their airing in the US.

But despite repeated (and probably annoying) queries from the Student Edge team, Netflix ANZ has been unable to confirm an Australian release date for the desperately-anticipated fourth season.

Meanwhile, here’s what Australians see when you try to watch the S4 premiere on Adult Swim.

Over in the UK, Rick and Morty’s local broadcaster Channel 4 changed its plans to premiere the series in January of 2020 following complaints from the show’s never-chill fandom.

Here’s hoping that Netflix does something similar in Australia, because right now, wubba lubba dub dub.

We’ll update this post when Netflix tells us the premiere date.

Update: And here it is! All six episodes of Rick and Morty S4 land on Australian Netflix on 22 December 2019.
