Turns Out Way More Women Are Watching "Rick and Morty" Than the Angry Bros Realise

Kanye has company.
When you hear about the Rick and Morty "intellectuals" who are paying $20,000 for Szechuan sauce and abusing the show’s female writers, it’s easy to imagine that it’s almost exclusively watched by dudes who identify with alcoholic nihilist Rick and troll Reddit/society accordingly.

But new user data from American streaming service Hulu has revealed that way more women watch Rick and Morty than was previously assumed—they’re just not being as obnoxious about it.
According to Mashable, with information from Hulu’s internal data and analytics team, women make up 40 per cent of the show’s audience.
That data doesn’t account for viewers on Adult Swim in America, or Netflix, where the show is available in Australia, or even whichever channels it plays on interdimensional cable.
But it indicates a more diverse audience appreciates the comedy stylings of showrunners Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon (who, for the record, hate those toxic, Rick-emulating fans too) than was previously realised.
That subset of misogynistic viewers may not like to hear Rick and Morty also appeals to women, but that’s the waaaaay the news goes.
