The "Sonic the Hedgehog" Movie Is Coming and It's a Full-Blown Nightmare

We were ready to accept Detective Pikachu but Sonic the Hedgehog might be taking it too far.

A trailer for the upcoming live-action (sigh) adaption of Sonic The Hedgehog has been released and the internet is more than raising its eyebrows.

That's because 2019's reimagining of the much-loved blue, speedy hedgehog is horrifying.

We had a similar reaction to James Marsden's character in the trailer.

There's no denying that Sonic is an anthropomorphic (animal with human features) mouse but unlike the source material, the movie really amps up that human element.

He now has a slender, very human-looking body and gone are his iconic white gloves.

It's an understatement to say the initial response was not one of great excitement.

Many comparisons were drawn between the upcoming Detective Pikachu, which follows a similar setup.

We'll find out if it's the true horror it seems to be when it's released in cinemas this November.

Correction (3/5/19): In one of the worst editorial crimes recorded in digital media history, we incorrectly referred to Sonic the Hedgehog as a "speedy mouse." We deeply regret this error.

  • "speedy mouse"? He's a darn Hedghog! Who wrote this? There is a big difference between a Hedghog and a Mouse. First off, a Mouse has a big, long tail! A Hedghog has spikes that hurt if they get into your skin!
