Here Are All the Revelations From the Latest "Detective Pikachu" Trailer

Detective Pikachu's second trailer is unexpectedly magnificent.

When news first dropped that there would be a live-action Pokémon film following the story of a wise guy Pikachu detective, we were very concerned. Then we heard Ryan Reynolds would be voicing the yellow furball and further into the deep hole of emotional conflicted-ness we fell.

Thankfully, the second trailer for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu has quelled our initial fears because it genuinely looks like a great blockbuster.

Check it out:

The clip contains a plethora of revelations further compounding our excitement. First up...

Mewtwo is back and still a total baddie.

It wouldn't be a great Pokémon flick without a bad guy and there are no bad guys badder than Mewtwo; (one of) the strongest human-made Pokémon and the main antagonist of many previous Poke-movies.

Toward the end of the trailer, Mewtwo appears, punching through a giant exploding Pikachu balloon. Seems like Mewtwo isn't here to make any friends.

Rita Ora makes a cameo.

Equally as surprising as Mewtwo's appearance is that of British singer Rita Ora. Appearing for a few seconds in a science-y looking attire, the trailer only shows her looking in shock at something off-screen. We're going to take a stab in the dark and assume she has something to do with the science lab who creates Mewtwo.

...and so does Diplo?

Doing what (we assume) he loves best, Diplo appears as a DJ alongside some vibing Loudreds. Seems about right.

There's still no word on whether Team Rocket will be there to denounce the evil of truth and love or extend their reach to the stars above but we'll await patiently for 9 May when the movie hits Australian cinemas.
