"Sonic The Hedgehog" Will Be Delayed to Fix Sonic's Freaky Design

They're going to need a little more time to fix Sonic's design.

Earlier this month, the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog was released and it surprised everyone.

Just not in a good way.

Instead of the out-of-proportion blue hedgehog we've come to adore, we got something closer to a small human in a blue, furry suit.

The internet complained and the team behind the upcoming Sonic movie actually listened. Jeff Fowler, the movie's director, said the message was "loud and clear" and promised that they'd redesign him.

But now, Fowler has confirmed our payment for such a demand: the movie's being delayed a few more months to get it right.

Originally slated for November this year, the movie will now be pushed back to Valentine's Day, which feels strangely right (though, it's likely to get its Australian release the day before).

Lovers and haters alike can catch Sonic the Hedgehog when it hits cinemas on Thursday 13 February in 2020 (just in time for lover's day).
