Director Promises Changes to "Sonic the Hedgehog" After Social Media Backlash

Sonic the Hedgehog fans loudly complained and the director actually listened.
Sonic the Hedgehog's first trailer was released this week and instead of drumming up some hype for the movie, it evoked pure fear.
The reimagining of Sonic in the trailer saw the blue hedgehog take on more of an in-proportion human shape over his classic disproportionate '90s-esque style.

Above: Sonic's classic look.
Jeff Fowler, the Sonic movie director, said "the message [was] loud and clear" and promised that changes would be happening to Sonic's design.
Online commentators have questioned if it's even possible to make such drastic changes so late in the game. Others recalled moments of backlash in film history that turned out to be triumphant when film studios refused to back down.
So, what could the changes look like once they're finished?
Well, many online would just prefer a more faithful recreation of the source material over the human-in-a-blue-hedgehog-suit look they settled on.

Sonic the Hedgehog is scheduled for a November release but expect this to be pushed back a bit with the proposed redesign.
