Just A Reminder There's Gonna Be a Live-Action "Rugrats" Movie

Is a live-action Rugrats movie what the world deserves in 2019?

There seems to be a lazy trend in movie-making that revolves around remaking old favourites. One we're all still suckers for.

I imagine Hollywood executives sitting around a desk, brainstorming ideas only for one ingenious head to say something along the lines of: "Hey everyone, why don't we just remake [insert nostalgic-inducing show or movie here]?"

But, somehow, it's even stranger when they're animated.

It's certainly been the case with some beloved favourites like Dumbo, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast and we've still got Aladdin, Dora, Shrek and even an English-speaking, wise-cracking Pikachu movie on the way.

The latest victim on the table? Nickelodeon's Rugrats. A show that finished up in 2004.

The project was announced last year but they've finally confirmed that it's to be directed by none other than the Diary of a Wimpy Kid director, David Bowers.

Word is, it's not entirely live-action either.

Instead, it'll be a hybrid between complete live-action and computer-generated, similar to what you might see in the Detective Pikachu trailers.

Still, many are understandably not convinced.

A lot of the tweets bring up a totally valid point: The Rugrats are babies or toddlers so are three-year-olds going to be cast for the roles?

What's next? A live-action remake of The Simpsons?
