Is Kendrick Lamar Going to Tour Australia in 2018? SITG Clues Suggest: Maybe!

Damn, indeed.

Update (26 April): The prophecy has been fulfilled. Kendrick is touring Australia this July. Read more here. Find the original story below.

Today, the line-up for 2018’s Splendour in the Grass was announced, and it's pretty exciting… if you live in New South Wales.

The festival, held at North Byron Parklands, will mark the "only Australian show" for acts like Lorde (who, admittedly, was here not that long ago) and Vampire Weekend (who will likely return when they drop their impending fourth album).

Check out some of the big names they nabbed below.

If you're not in NSW and feeling the stinging pains of FOMO, take another look at the very first name on that list.

Notice how there’s no caveat next to Kendrick Lamar? Could that mean Kung Fu Kenny has much more planned for Aussie audiences this July?

Lamar has visited Australia three times before; once in 2012, again as a support act for Eminem in 2014, and off the back of To Pimp a Butterfly and untitled. unmastered. in 2016.

However, he’s since released two albums—DAMN. and the Black Panther soundtrack—won five GRAMMYs and even topped the Triple J Hottest 100 with "Humble". So, yeah, he’s got some new stuff to cover.

Of course, nothing’s official, yet. And if Kendrick decided to play more than one show in Australia, it’s not clear how generous he’d be with his time. He may end up doing a single side show in Sydney.

Buuuut, take a look at his current tour schedule, and note the big empty space that comes after 16 June.

Spend winter with us, K. Dot!

We've reached out to the team at Splendour in the Grass and his local publicity people for more information.

Splendour in the Grass goes down 20 – 22 July, 2018.
