Is This What the Top 10 of Triple J's Hottest 100 Will Look Like?

Do we kinda already know what it's going to be?

Triple J has just released their hotly-anticipated albums of the year list, and it's looking like a good indication of what's to come in the Hottest 100.

Topping the list was Gang of Youths' ARIA award-winning release Go Farther in Lightness, which surprised a total of approximately zero people. In second place was Lorde's Melodrama, followed by DAMN., Kendrick Lamar's fourth studio album.

Also making the list was The Smith Street Band, Alex Lahey, Vera Blue and King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizard. An extremely Australian affair, which makes sense.

1. Gang Of Youths - Go Farther In Lightness
2. Lorde - Melodrama
3. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
4. The Smith Street Band - More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me
5. Childish Gambino - "Awaken, My Love!"
6. Alex Lahey - I Love You Like A Brother
7. The Jungle Giants - Quiet Ferocity
8. Vera Blue - Perennial
9. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana
10. Meg Mac - Low Blows

We're betting the top 10 of January's Hottest 100 will definitely include a good chunk of the singles that came from these top-rated albums. You can definitely expect "HUMBLE." and "Homemade Dynamite" to make appearances. "Redbone", however, made it to 2016's top 10, and The Smith Street Band's "Death to the Lads" was released last year, so one of their albums' other tracks might have to sneak in instead.

The Hottest 100 will be broadcast on January 27, the day after Australia Day, after Triple J's listeners were surveyed about changing the date of the countdown. Student Edge members were also surveyed on the subject, and only 27 per cent were against the decision.

When it came to changing the date of Australia Day, however, only 28 per cent were for the idea, with some students explaining that it was a "band-aid solution."
