Take A Deep Breath: Kendrick Lamar Is Dropping A Surprise Album This Weekend

Though he came second in the Hottest 100 and was bested by Taylor Swift at the Grammys, Kendrick Lamar will always be number one in our hearts.

The last thing we needed was another reason to love the man. And yet, according to Pitchfork, tomorrow he will release the surprise new record, untitled. unmastered.

You can already find the tracklist and cover art on Spotify, where it’s expected to go live over the weekend.

Though it’s only eight tracks long, we’re not going to complain. (Don’t forget, his last record – To Pimp A Butterfly – came out less than a year ago.)

Some of the tunes are likely the ones he previously performed on The Colbert Report and The Tonight Show. He similarly unveiled a new verse at the Grammys.

Last month he told Rolling Stone that he was sitting on an entire “chamber of [unreleased] material” from his Butterfly sessions, “where sample clearances or something as simple as a deadline kept it off the album.”

Guess those samples are now cleared!

Only trouble is the songs on untitled. unmastered. are, you guessed it, untitled. It’s going to be really difficult to talk about your faves with friends.

Update: Start refreshing your Spotify and iTunes, because apparently this thing has already arrived (in the U.S. at least).
