Kendrick Lamar Just Won the Damn Pulitzer Prize for Music

Kendrick Lamar has won the Pulitzer Prize for an album the Grammys deemed "worse than Bruno Mars’ 24k Magic".
Damn., Kendrick’s surprise Easter 2017 release, has become the first rap work to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
It’s a massive moment for modern pop music, because, as CNN reports, the award has previously only ever been given to classical or jazz artists.
But it seems the stuffy Pulitzer Prize board couldn’t resist Kendrick’s fourth album, which provided another piercing glimpse at American life through Lamar’s lyrical lens. (Fun fact: It can even be played in reverse sequence order, giving the record's opening and closing "shootings" new meaning.)
It’s also worth noting that Damn. is Kendrick’s sexiest album, thanks to the groove of "Element", his Rihanna collaboration "Loyalty", and the back-to-back slow jams of "Lust" and "Love".
Basically: the Pulitzer board be freaks.
Damn.’s lead single, "Humble", topped Triple J's Hottest 100 earlier this year. You can only imagine how that’s going to play now that he’s a Pulitzer Prize winner, especially when he brings it to Australia.
