Kendrick Lamar Plays Pope, Goes Golfing, Teases Imminent Album in New Music Video, "Humble"

Kendrick is your Young Pope now.

It’s becoming increasingly apparent that Kendrick Lamar will “surprise drop” a new album on April 7th, following the tantalising tease of new tune “The Heart Part IV” last week and the unveiling today of a music video for next single, “Humble”.

No, not that one. This one.

(Language warning, obviously.)

In the clip, Lamar shows off a new papal outfit, recreates the tableau of the Last Supper, talks about getting paged by Obama and demonstrates his golf swing. You know? Typical humble activities.

Produced by Mike Will Made-It, “Humble” is a more radio-friendly tune than “The Heart Part IV”, but it continues Kendrick's mission from that warning shot: He will settle for no status less than 'Pope of Hip-Hop'.

Should we read anything into the fact the release of his two new songs and the impending new album is completely cannibalising Drake’s More Life? Nah, K Dot’s too humble for that.
