Taylor Swift’s New Album “Lover” Has Dropped and the Internet Is Here for It

People are loving it as much as Taylor loves her cats, which is a lot.

There has been a lot going on in the world of Queen Taylor Swift recently. Between the Scooter Braun drama and her appearance in the nightmarish Cats trailer, we don’t quite know how to keep up. But Swift’s pop-culture domination isn’t stopping any time soon, considering her new album Lover is officially here.

Like that wasn’t enough, Tay also released the music video to the album's title track "Lover" overnight, in which we get to witness her swimming around in a fishbowl.

It’s majestic stuff guys.

Fishbowl aside, Lover comes in at a massive 18 tracks, making it her longest album to date. That gives you a whole lot of time to slow-dance in your kitchen. Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York and co-produced by Taylor, Joel Little and Jack Antonoff, the album is far less bitter than Reputation and fills us with summer vibes.

We knew Swifties would love it, but it seems nothing could have prepared them for just how much.

Which songs are the true bops?

If you want to avoid a toothache by listening to "Me!", that's completely and utterly fair. Instead, we'd recommend the synth banger "Cruel Summer", which sparks some Red nostalgia. Co-written by St. Vincent, the track paints a picture of a mysterious summer fling through cheeky lyrics.

"The Man" is an equally confident track. With a feminist angle, Taylor explores how her career might be different if she was a man. The chorus boasts snappy lyrics, with Taylor singing, "I'm so sick of running as fast as I can, wondering if I'd get there quicker if I was a man". Considering much of Reputation focused on the singer's personal dramas, it's definitely refreshing to hear her sing about bigger issues.

While some fans might have expected that Taylor would continue down the resentful Reputation road, instead she has opted for a far more self-aware flavour. At the end of the sweet tune "Daylight", she casually says, "I wanna be defined by the things I love, not the things that I hate, not the things I'm afraid of".

She adds, "I just think that, you are what you love."

Unsurprisingly, Lover is already sitting in the top spot on the US iTunes sales charts. We also wouldn't be surprised if you spend the rest of your night with your headphones plugged in, contemplating how many cats it is possible to own.

Happy listening, lovers.
