So, Turns Out Kelly Clarkson Told Taylor Swift to Re-Record Her Masters Two Years Ago

Clarkson's old tweet has gone viral.

If you're a Swiftie, you probably spent a good portion of your weekend blasting Taylor Swift's re-recording of her 2008 album Fearless on repeat (and so you should).

Fearless (Taylor's Version) was released on Friday 9 April and contains all 19 songs from the original platinum edition, along with six unreleased tracks "from the vault".

This includes the straight-up fire track "You All Over Me", featuring country star Maren Morris.

Listening to Fearless (Taylor's Version) is certainly a trip down memory lane, with most renditions remaining faithful to the original tunes. Of course, Taylor's voice has matured, making some of the re-recordings even more nostalgic.

If you're not sure why the singer had to re-record the album, it's 'cos Scooter Braun and his company Ithaca Holdings purchased Tay Tay's old label Big Machine in late June 2019, which gave him ownership of her masters prior to Lover

According to Taylor, her old label offered to let her "earn" one album back every time she gave them a new one. So, Taylor decided to go ahead and re-record her first six albums instead (go off, queen).

Interestingly, Swifties discovered that Kelly Clarkson had actually encouraged Taylor to re-record her old albums in a tweet from July 2019.

"@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don't own the masters on exactly how U did them," the singer wrote.

While it's not clear whether Taylor initially got the idea from Kelly, Swifties are still praising the "Since U Been Gone" singer for her amazing advice.

So far, Fearless (Taylor's Version) has received pretty positive reviews. In fact, even Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner reckons the new tracks are bops, despite many of them being about her hubby Joe Jonas.

The pair dated in 2008, and Joe reportedly broke up with Taylor over the phone in "like 27 seconds" when she was 18 and he was 19. Ouch.
