Taylor Swift’s Feud with Scooter Braun May Prevent Her from Playing Her Old Hits Live

The singer’s feud with Scooter Braun has escalated.

Four months ago, it was announced that music manager Scooter Braun and his company Ithaca Holdings had acquired the Big Machine Label Group, which is the label under which Taylor Swift recorded her first six albums.

Tay called the agreement her "worst case scenario", as it means that Braun has the rights to her old music, from "Love Story" to "Look What You Made Me Do".  

Although Australia’s own be-wigged singer-songwriter Sia Furler decided to side with Scooter in the battle, a bunch of singers stood up for Taylor, with Halsey taking to Twitter to express how much the "Lover" singer has inspired her over the years.

Now, the feud has reached absolute boiling point, with Queen Swift asking her fans for help.

It comes after T-Swift posted a statement on social media claiming she has been banned from performing her own music at the upcoming American Music Awards.

"It’s been announced recently that the American Music Awards will be honoring me with the Artist of the Decade Award at this year’s ceremony. I’ve been planning to perform a medley of my hits throughout the decade on the show," Tay said.  

However, the artist claims Braun and President and CEO of Big Machine Label Group Scott Borchetta will not let her perform her own songs.

"Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year."

The singer added that Braun and Borchetta are preventing her older tracks and performance footage from being used in a Netflix documentary about her life as well.

According to Swift, Borchetta informed her team that she’ll only be allowed to use her music if she agrees to not re-record her songs next year, which she was planning to do. Additionally, she would need to stop talking about both Braun and Borchetta.

Despite the conditions, the artist believes it’s important to talk about what is happening to her. 

"I feel very strongly that sharing what is happening to me could change the awareness level for other artists and potentially help them avoid a similar fate," she wrote.

"The message being sent to me is very clear. Basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you’ll be punished."

Although, not everyone agrees that T-Swift still has the rights to her music...

Of course, Swift’s fans are more than ready for combat. As of writing this article, #IStandWithTaylor is the top trend on Twitter, with her Swifties making their anger perfectly clear.

Halsey also reaffirmed her support for the singer once again, saying "It is her grace and patience in these moments that make her Artist of the Decade."

Tay has also asked her fans to reach out to other artists managed by Scooter, who might be able to "talk some sense" into him. The artists were unamed, but Perez Hilton suggests she's referring to Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato. 

Considering nothing has been resolved yet, Swift also notified fans that there is a "question mark" over her upcoming performance at the AMA’s, the Netflix documentary and any other recorded events until November 2020.
