Taylor Swift Couldn't Go To The VMAs Because Of Jury Duty

Stars, they’re just like us!

Last week, it was revealed that Taylor Swift would be sitting out this year’s MTV VMAs, despite taking the top prize in 2015 for “Bad Blood”.

The reasons for her absence were multitudinous. For instance, her long-time frenemy Kanye West would be taking the stage to do “whatever he wants” (an offer he took full advantage of), her recent Snapchat nemesis Kim Kardashian would be in attendance and her ex Calvin Harris was nominated for Best Male Video (a prize he won).

And yet, it turns out Swifty had the ultimate excuse up her sleeve for avoiding the Video Music Awards. She was called up to a Nashville court to perform her civic duty.

According to The Guardian, the 26-year-old would have been a juror in an aggravated rape and kidnapping case, but she was excused by the judge, not because the presence of a world-famous pop star would have been a distraction, but because Swift is in the midst of her own sexual assault civil case, and she did not believe she could be impartial.

She reportedly told the judge she’d be willing to serve as a juror in any other kind of case.

Swift still signed autographs and took selfies with her fellow jurors though.

We find her guilty... of melting hearts.
