Taylor Swift Skipping The VMAs; Kanye Given Four Minutes “To Do Whatever He Wants”

Tay Tay is sitting out this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and it’s probably for the best.

A source told People magazine that Swift “was never scheduled to attend the VMAs”, which makes sense, considering she has a total of zero nominations at this year’s ceremony.

Still, her absence will be felt, considering she won Video of the Year in 2015 (for “Bad Blood”) and that she has a starring role (kinda) in Kanye West’s “Famous” clip (up for Video of the Year this time around).

Even if Kanye fails to trump Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Adele and Drake in the Video of the Year stakes, you will absolutely see him take the mic during the ceremony (which airs Monday afternoon, EST).

According to Pitchfork, Kanye has been given four minutes to do “whatever he wants on stage”.

The decision no doubt came off the back of his speech last year, in which he said he would run for president in 2020 while accepting the Video Vanguard Award.

Oh, and you’ll never guess who handed him that particular prize…
