Say Buh-Bye to Load Screens, Because the PS5 Loads Like a Beast

The next gen of the Sony PlayStation looks faster and more furious than the PS4.
Sick of having to wait literal seconds for your game to move on from its painful loading screens?
The upcoming, as yet undated PlayStation 5 looks like it’ll be burying that experience for good, thanks to new footage of a performance test.
Takashi Mochizuki from the Wall Street Journal was on hand to see how the PS5’s load times compared to the PS4, using its fan-fave game Spider-Man.
As you can see in the below clip, what once took eight seconds to load on the PS4 will take less than one second on the PS5. (This is what was promised when Sony told Wired they would be using a solid state drive, or SSD, to lessen load times.)
Though it means you probably won’t get time to learn some fun new tricks during the loading screens, we’re pretty much fine with making the trade. That is, if Sony can keep the console's performance that swift and smooth once they've got a final version ready for sale.
There’s still no official name for the next PlayStation device, and only a few firm details (such as backwards compatibility and 8K video quality). It also won’t be ready for Christmas 2019. No matter. Sounds like we’re gonna need the extra time to save that cash for this monster of a machine, whenever it hits stores.
