We’ve Ranked the Most Extra Celeb Halloween Costumes of 2021

These celebs really did the most.
There were some insanely rad looks served up by our faves for spooky season this year which put all our dollar store outfits to shame. From Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ Lizzie McGuire get-up to Katy Perry’s vaccine syringe costume, celebs turned to the classics, memes, and current affairs for inspiration. But some…well, they simply won Halloween.
We’ve ranked the top five wacky, totally over-the-top and outright impressive costumes of 2021—and you’ll be struggling to identify most of these famous faces.
5. Ariana Grande as Creature From the Black Lagoon.
The pop sweetheart literally dressed as an amphibian and you’ll still see those “slay queen” comments filling up her Insta comment section. This was a super aesthetic, old school horror look which made us wanna pull out those VHS tapes for a cosy Halloween night in.
4. Lil Nas X as Voldemort from Harry Potter.

Voldy’s hitting the Old Town Road and he’s looking his nose-less best. Lil Nas X went all out with the prosthetics this year and nailed the Avada Kedavra pose.
3. Kendall Jenner as Martian Girl from Mars Attacks!.

Somehow, she made an alien look as if it had walked straight off the runway. Carrying that head of hair around all night must have been exhausting, but those photos for the ‘gram were worth it.
2. Lizzo as Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian and the Doll from Squid Game.

The "Juice" singer makes this list twice for being a meme queen and giving us what we all wanted.
She nailed the adorable-ness of Baby Yoda in masterful face paint and stunned concertgoers when she appeared as the ‘red-light, green-light’ doll from Squid Game (and danced to “Thriller”). So much chaotic energy from her.
1. The Weeknd as Don Corleone from The Godfather.

Perhaps not the most shocking costume, but certainly the most impressive. Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd transformed into the infamous Mafia icon and fans went crazy. We really thought he couldn’t top his past looks, but he’s done it again.
Idk if I’m being too ambitious, but I’m taking screenshots right now for Halloween 2022 (which I’ll definitely forget about and get a totally predictable last-minute costume on the day).
My advice? Unless you’ve got an entourage of celebrity make-up artists, start learning how to do your VFX makeup now.
