Donald Glover Isn't Going to Make That "Deadpool" TV Show Anymore

Donald Glover will no longer make an animated Deadpool TV series, which is a thing that was apparently happening for a minute.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Donald and his brother Stephen have walked away from the series, which was intended to launch on American network FXX this year.

Though the show would have had no ties to the Ryan Reynolds film series, it would still have been "adult" in nature, befitting the Merc with a Mouth’s habit of saying and doing the dirtiest things imaginable.

"Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel's Deadpool animated series," FX said in a statement.

FX picked up the show last May, with a 10-episode order. However, planning for the show apparently never went beyond early discussions, and no voice cast was ever hired.

Understandable. Donald Glover has been kinda-busy lately, and not just on his other FX show, Atlanta.

It’s not known if Disney will have another crack at a Deadpool show, perhaps on their own impending streaming service, now that they hold the rights to the Marvel characters formerly under the Fox stable.

Even so, it’s unlikely the Glovers will be involved in any future iteration of the program. Donald will just have to settle for his Grammy-award earning musical career, the buzziest show on TV, a lead role in the live-action Lion King adaptation and a key supporting part in the Star Wars series. And that’s it!
