Donald Glover and Beyoncé Officially Cast as Simba and Nala in Live-Action "Lion King" Remake

Disney, much like Rafiki presenting Baby Simba to the world, has revealed the official cast for their Lion King remake.

And we are similarly quaking at its regality.

Behold, the full cast of what will inevitably be the highest grossing film in history.

After months of rumours, Disney’s announcement finally confirms actual queen Beyoncé will voice Nala in the “live-action” adaptation of the 1994 animated classic.

(We’re not exactly sure how this will be “live-action”, given the all-animal cast, but try to picture director Jon Favreau’s last CGI effort, The Jungle Book, and you’ll probably get a good idea of what to expect.)

Bey’s just the start.

If you’re upset about Donald Glover leaving music behind (temporarily), you can specifically blame Disney, as they’ve snagged him to play Simba (as previously announced). Luckily, this is literally the only excuse we will accept for a delay in the next Childish Gambino album.

Other names that had been previously floated include James Earl Jones, who will reprise the role of Mufasa, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, taking on the part of Scar.

Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will voice Timon and Pumbaa, respectively, while John Oliver will play Zazu.

The honour of playing the hyenas goes to Keegan-Michael Key, Eric Andre and Florence Kasumba.

Look out for it in cinemas July of 2019.
