"Cyberpunk 2077" Has Returned to the PlayStation Store But Is It Any Better?

Sony recommends not buying the PS4 version.

After one of the most disastrous video game launches in history, Cyberpunk 2077 has officially been restored to the PlayStation Store after Sony pulled the game due to its poor performance.

For those who aren’t familiar, the game was basically released half baked, with users sharing videos everywhere online of various glitches and bugs they encountered within the game. This resulted in Sony pulling the game from the store seven days after its launch. That’s gotta be a record, right?

Anyway, fast forward six months and Sony have now restored the game to the PlayStation store after game developers CDPR went into overdrive trying to fix the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 today tweeted that the game is again available for PS4 and PS5 on the store, but included a warning.

“Users may continue to experience some performance issues with the PS4 edition while we continue to improve stability across all platforms,” the game’s official Twitter account wrote.

“The PS4 Pro and PS5 versions of the game will provide the best experience on PlayStation.”

If we read between the lines, Cyberpunk is basically saying “please don’t buy this game for PS4, it is a flaming pile of trash.”

On the other hand, Sony have just gone for full transparency on their game store, telling users not to bother with the PS4 version.

“Purchase for use on PS4 systems is not recommended. For the best Cyberpunk experience on PlayStation, play on PS4 Pro and PS5 systems.”

Oh boy, that is some juicy shade right there.

A handy little FYI for those keen to get the game; the PS5 is running the PS4 Pro version of Cyberpunk, so if you can, wait a little longer until CDPR release a true next-gen version of the game later this year.

On the plus side, Cyberpunk have extended an olive branch, revealing they’re giving all owners of the PS4 version a free upgrade to the next-gen version when it’s released.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5.
