Chelsea Peretti's Coffee-Themed EP "Phosphorescent Panic" Has Arrived

It's the best thing to come out of 2020.

No one can deny that this year has brought its fair share of challenges. Like Australia's devastating bushfires were not enough, we have also been living through a global pandemic, which has caused mass uncertainty about the future.

However, it's vital to remember that no matter how bleak things get, you can always find some joy somewhere.

That joy could come from trying your hand at an activity you have never done before or binge-watching a new television series starring your favourite actor.

Alternatively, it could come from listening to comedian Chelsea Peretti's new pop EP about coffee.

While we've known for some time that Peretti's talents are completely unmatched, we never quite expected that she'd also be able to save 2020 by creating bops about everyone's favourite hot drink.

The EP, which is called Phosphorescent Panic, features a collection of 10 tunes that tap into a range of complex emotions surrounding the comedian's love for coffee.

It all starts off with the lead track "EXPRESSO", which features Nick Kroll and Kid Mero. As soon as the bouncy synths and vocals kick in, it becomes obvious that we are in for a level of musical mastery that could only be achieved by a true genius like Peretti.

Peretti slows it down on the nostalgic tune "GRAMA". In the second verse, she sings, "There's a photo of you holding a lunchbox, there's a photo of you dressed up as a fox."

The comedian becomes melancholy on "LATE", as she explores how she is consistently late to meetings but always manages to show up with a coffee in her hand.

It's a situation that many of us can relate to.

Although, fans will recognise some of the songs like "LATE", "OATMILK" and "CHORE", which also appeared on the Foam and Flotsam EP that Peretti released back in April.

The new tracks on the Phosphorescent Panic EP include "EXPRESSO (feat. Nick Kroll, Kid Mero)", "BDR", "GREENTEA (feat. Wale)", "JAVADAWGS (feat. Kate Berlant, Reggie Watts)" and "GRAMA".

It's safe to say that listeners are loving the latest tunes.

The Phosphorescent Panic EP is just a preview of the full-length, coffee-themed album that Perretti is due to release later this year.

We don't know what we did to deserve such utter brilliance, but we are eternally grateful.

Now, make yourself a cup of coffee and go and stream the EP.
