Mamma Mia: ABBA Has Returned for Their First Album in 40 Years

Here we go again.

Stop scrolling endlessly through Mamma Mia videos on TikTok, because the news you've been waiting your whole life for is finally here: ABBA is back.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The band has reunited for Voyage, a 10-track album of brand new songs that'll be released on 5 November. Not only that, but the Swedish group have released two fresh tracks today so you can get a taste of what's to come.

Voyage is the band's first release since their 1981 album The Visitors, which means it has been 40 years since we've had any new material from them (in fact, most of us wouldn't have even been born when they dropped their last record).

What are the new songs?

The first new tune is titled "I Still Have Faith in You" and listening to it is like taking a trip back in time.

With lyrics like, "The joy and the sorrow/ We have a story, and it survived" the bop contains a catchy, emotional melody accompanied by sensitive vocals.

The second track "Don't Shut Me Down" sounds like it could totally appear in a Mamma Mia 3 (if it actually happened). While it still has classic ABBA vibes, the lyrics and arrangement feel more mature here.

Take a listen to both of the songs below.

Will ABBA be performing together again?

Kind of. The group has been working with George Lucas' visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic to create a super special concert, where the band members will perform digitally in a physical, purpose-built 'ABBA Arena' in London in May 2022.

Basically, Industrial Light & Magic have gone and recreated the four artists in their prime using motion capture technology. If you want a sneak peek of it, there's a teaser in the video for "I Still Have Faith in You".

It's safe to say a lot of people are absolutely ecstatic about the reunion.

Now, go and unleash your inner dancing queen.
