An Actual Witch Has Been Hired as a Writer on the "Charmed" Reboot

Here’s news to make eventual critics of the show nervous.

The producers behind the upcoming Charmed reboot have turned to the dark arts in an effort to give their new series some authenticity, Vulture reports.

Speaking at a Television Critics Association panel yesterday—as a warning?—the producing team behind Charmed revealed they had hired witchcraft-practitioner Marcos Luevanos to the show’s writing room.

Luevanos, they noted, belongs to a real-life coven, and also wrote on Life In Pieces, which are two great items to have on your CV if you’re seeking a job on Charmed.

"Our writers have been amazing," said producer Jessica O’Toole.

"They’re sending us spells they found, they’re watching exorcism and witchcraft movies."

Admittedly, those things don't seem like they're the exclusive purview of practising witches, but this sentence is in no way meant to be taken as an insult (I'm no dummy; I don't need no curses on my head).

With Luevanos’ hiring, the producers are now closer to getting Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness to co-sign this Charmed reboot than original star Holly Marie Combs, who has been critical since the project was announced.

However, O’Toole told Vulture they haven’t ruled out cameos from the original stars. They’ll just need to turn Combs’ heart first, it seems.

Ah, now we know what that witchcraft is going to be used for.
