"The Nanny" Might be the Next '90s Fave to Return (and be About Politics)

She had style, she had flair, she was there, and now she may be coming back.
Fran Drescher—aka Fran Fine—has teased a revival of her kitsch ‘90s sitcom The Nanny, telling Entertainment Tonight she and her producer husband are "talking about it".
"We're working on a very big project," she added.
"It's going to be very exciting for the fans, but I'm not at liberty to announce it yet. But it's gonna be big."
A return of The Nanny kind-of makes sense (if you squint at it, from afar), following the ultra successful (if, err, brief) resuscitation of Roseanne as a political touchstone, not to mention the continuation of Will and Grace among other beloved, multi-camera comedies from the same era.
Drescher even has a good idea of where her character would be, emotionally, all these decades later, telling ET that Nanny Fine would be speaking out about "environmental issues, to health, to civil liberties".
The Nanny 2.0 except with more politics?
Well, okay, we're interested. We’d just hate for the producers to promise us something and then take it back.
