A Live-Action “Hercules” Is in the Works and People Are Already Predicting the Cast

How does Ariana Grande as Megara sound?

We have seen a number of live-action remakes over the past few years. There's been The Lion King and Aladdin, and now we're eagerly waiting for Mulan to be released once cinemas open their doors again.

Well, it looks like the live-action remakes are just going to keep on coming, because Disney's Hercules is the next film that's going to be remade for a new generation.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the new flick is in early development, and it's not clear whether it will keep the musical elements. So if your go-to karaoke song is "Go the Distance", don't get your hopes up.

Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers behind Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, are set to produce via their AGBO banner, while the studio has hired Dave Callaham (The Expendables) to write the script. However, no director has been confirmed.

Similarly, no cast details have been released. Although, as expected, people have taken to Twitter to let everyone know who they'd like to see play Hercules and Megara, who were originally voiced by Tate Donovan and Susan Egan.

One popular choice for Megara is Elizabeth Gillies, who is known for her roles in American soap opera Dynasty, and sitcom Victorious. Gillies does kind of resemble the character from the 1997 film.

Some have even suggested Pitch Perfect actress Anna Kendrick, and with her vocal abilities, we could totally see this working.

Others are advocating for Zendaya to play the role, and we'd be here for that.

By far the most talked about choice, however, is Ariana Grande. There's already been rumours that the singer could possibly be playing the character after she performed "I Won't Say I'm in Love" during The Disney Family Singalong.

As for Hercules, there's been a few actors put forward.

At this stage, we're not too sure when the Hercules live-action remake will be released.

Until we find out, we'll just have to keep thinking about our dream cast.
