The Trailer for HBO's "Game of Thrones" Prequel "House of the Dragon" Is Here and We're Shook

Everything you need to know.
It feels like the world has only just recovered from the final season of Game of Thrones but HBO is ready to take us on another emotionally violent rollercoaster ‘cos they just dropped the trailer for the GoT prequel House of the Dragon.
You know what, maybe I am ready to invest myself in a bunch of new characters that will be shockingly killed off with carefree abandon?
Is it obvious I’m still salty?
With fire, blood and a helluva lot of blonde hair, the new show about the Targaryen family is sure to be a wild ride. Here’s everything we know so far about the show.
When is House of the Dragon coming out in Australia?
Fans of the GoT universe won’t have to wait long to return to Westeros ‘cos House of the Dragon is due to drop in early 2022.
Dates aren’t officially confirmed yet, but early rumours are suggesting that 1 January will be the premiere date. There’s no better way to start the new year than with some intense medieval violence and betrayal.
The show will be released to watch on HBO Max, but considering Australia doesn’t have this streaming service, the series is expected to drop on BINGE and Foxtel down under.
What is House of the Dragon about?
The series is set 200 years before the events of GoT and follows the siblings Aegon II and Rhaenyra who are engaged in a civil war over who will rule the Iron Throne after the death of their father, King Viserys.
The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s novel, Fire and Blood, which explores the violent history of House Targaryen.
Honestly, I’m getting pumped for this now.
Who stars in House of Dragon?
Much like GoT, House of the Dragon boasts a massive all-star cast that will keep our eyes glued to the screen.
The Crown’s Matt Smith plays Prince Daemon Targaryen, younger brother to King Viserys and a dragon rider. Alongside him is the lesser known actress Emma D'Arcy taking on the role of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, firstborn of the King. I guarantee she’ll become a household name before long.
Hot Fuzz funnyman Paddy Considine takes on the role of King Viserys I who is known as a kind and decent man. My guess is he’s gonna have a show-stealing performance in the first season, but defs won’t survive it.
Rounding out the cast is Harry Potter actor Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower and his daughter Queen Alicent Hightower played by Bates Motel actress Olivia Cooke.
Honestly, there’s not much more to say than: bring it on HBO. I’m ready for the heartbreak.
House of the Dragon drops on Foxtel and BINGE January 2022.
