So, Turns Out There’s Going to Be a Sixth Season of "The Crown"

It'll take the series into the early 2000s.

Netflix has announced that The Crown will film a sixth and final season, just months after saying the show would come to an end with Season 5.

The streaming service revealed the change of plans on Twitter, saying writer and creator Peter Morgan wants to do "justice to the richness and complexity of the story." Netflix also pointed out that it'll definitely be the final season.

Morgan said, "As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons."

That means we'll get one more season with Olivia Colman playing Queen Elizabeth, and then she'll pass the crown to Imelda Staunton.

Season 6 will take the story up to the early 2000s, so if you were hoping to see the introduction of Meghan Markle, we're sorry to disappoint.

Season 3 of The Crown dropped on Netflix last November, and production for the fourth season finished up back in March. Although, no release date has been confirmed yet.

It's expected that S4 will focus on Margaret Thatcher's years as Prime Minister, between 1979 and 1990. In that case, we could see the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, as well as the births of their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Emma Corrin (Pennyworth) will step into the role of Princess Diana.

Well, at least you know that you've still got a lot more of your favourite show to watch! Just try to forget it's all coming to an end in Season 6.
