When Is the “Halo” TV Series Coming Out?

Here’s everything we know.
In case you missed it, the creators of the super popular video game series Halo have ventured into TV, with production on the Halo TV series almost complete (eep!).
Developed by Paramount+, the live-action Halo series will take people into the world of the Master Chief on a sci-fi journey that had over 80 million gamers hooked since its release in 2001.
If you haven't played any of the games yet, stop everything and go do it—it's life-changing.
To get you excited for the release, here’s everything we know about the Halo TV series so far.

When is Halo coming out?
Production on the series began in October 2019 but was halted ‘cos of COVID (man I’m getting sick of writing that).
Now that production has resumed, Paramount+ have said that fans can expect to see the series drop in early 2022, with IMDB reporting there will be 9 episodes in the first season.
There's no news yet if Halo will have a worldwide premiere or just the US initially. Either way, we'll keep you updated on when it'll land in Australia.
What will Halo be about?
If you call yourself a gamer, then you’ll know that there have been six Halo game so far (the first five and Halo Reach) and the seventh installment of the series—Halo: Infinite—is due out later this year.
So much happens over the course of those games that it’s unfair to expect the series to cover all of it, but our guess would be the series will cover the plot of the first game.
All Paramount+ have revealed so far is that the show will be “an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant."
Speaking about the series, Head of Halo Transmedia and Entertainment Kiki Wolfkill said that they want to show a different side to the Master Chief.
“The biggest challenge with adapting the game is the game is designed to put you into Chief’s armour,” Wolfkill said.
“What we’re asking people to do with the show is to sit back and say we’re going to present a side of Chief that you just don’t get to play in the game.”

Who's starring in Halo?
The role of the Master Chief John-117 is going to Pablo Schreiber (yes, Liev Schreiber’s half-brother). Schreiber has had supporting roles in shows like The Wire, Orange is the New Black and American Gods, so it’ll be exciting to see him star as arguably the greatest video game character in history.
Actress Natascha McElhone stars alongside Schreiber as Dr. Catherine Elizabeth Halsey. Dr. Halsey is the creator of the SPARTAN warrior project which John-117 was a part of, so it’ll be great to see how they interact.
Finally, for those who know the game, Cortana will mean a lot to you. She is an artificial intelligence in the series that serves as an advisor and assistant to the Master Chief. Showrunners have cast Jen Taylor as the voice of Cortana, who incidentally also voices Cortana in the game series. What a throwback that’ll be.
To watch Halo when it drops next year, you’ll need a Paramount+ subscription. The streaming service costs $8.99/month and is available now in Australia.
