Attention "Star Wars" Fans: An R2-D2 Tamagotchi Is Coming

Complete with robot poop.

Star Wars is finally getting the Tamagotchi treatment it deserves ‘cos very soon you will be able to care for your very own R2-D2 Tamagotchi.

Warning: if you ever had a Tamagotchi or Digimon growing up, this article will cause dangerously high levels of nostalgia.

The new partnership between Star Wars and the hand-held gaming company allows owners to raise their own R2-D2, complete with jam-packed gameplay content that honestly puts Cyberpunk 2077 to shame.

Yeah, I went there, what of it?

Training your own R2 unit starts with simply keeping it clean and charged—kinda like my phone now that I think about it—but it gets more advanced as you level up. Speaking of levels, there are 19 skills for your droid to learn like mastering pilot mode to help it grow, and 7 mini games to unlock and play.

It only gets better from here ‘cos you’ll be visited in-game by other characters from the Star Wars universe including fellow droid C-3PO, Sandtroopers, Wookies, Ewoks, Jedi master Yoda and infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett.

The best part of all is if you don’t keep R2-D2 happy and well looked after, the Jawas may come and take him away according to the product blurb. I dunno if that will actually happen but a Tamagotchi’s life has gotta end somehow, right?

If you’re wondering if the R2-D2 Tamagotchi is available in Australia the answer is yes. You can pre-order your own right now from Big W for $39 and have the choice between the classic white version or the hologram blue.

Finally, to really show everyone you mean business, included is a chain so you can strap it to your keys and look after the little fella while you’re sitting through a boring class.

You can thank me later for bringing this to your attention.
