When Is the Remastered “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy” Coming Out?

The first trailer has arrived.

Anyone still holding their breath for Grand Theft Auto 6 would have well and truly passed out by now. For those still conscious though, it’s time to get excited ‘cos overnight Rockstar Games dropped a trailer confirming the remastered GTA: The Trilogy.

After months of speculation about whether or not Rockstar were remastering GTA 3, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas, we finally have confirmation as well as a release date.

To get you up to speed on everything GTA, here are all the deets you need to know.

When is GTA: The Trilogy coming out in Australia?

The game will be digitally released on 11 November worldwide with a physical version to drop in stores on 7 December.

Both the digital and physical copies will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

How good will the remaster be?

While not quite up to the quality of GTA V graphics, Rockstar has done a great job at remastering the old games to be more modernised.

For those who love the tech talk, the game was remastered in the Unreal Engine which includes more realistic face modelling, all-new lighting, high-resolution textures and increased draw distances, which means players can see more of the map further ahead.

As for the controls, they have been refreshed across the board to be more like GTA V. That means targeting, camera and movement controls have been updated. On top of that, radial menus have been introduced for weapons and radio stations to save gamers time cycling through.

Is there any update on GTA 6?

That’s the big internet mystery, isn’t it? No one really knows.

Despite Kotaku reporting last year that Rockstar was working on GTA 6, the game developer didn’t confirm it.

The only other credible rumour floating around is that Rockstar’s parent company have outlined they will spend $US89 million on marketing in the 2023/2024 financial year.

In other words, watch this space.

GTA: The Trilogy drops digitally worldwide on 11 November with a physical copy released on 7 December.
