Watch the Throne: "Game of Thrones" to Return For Final Season in April 2019

It’s the end game, people!

Time to stop speculating: Game of Throne’s eighth and final season will air in April of 2019.

The official announcement comes from HBO and Foxtel (its Australian broadcaster). To celebrate, HBO dropped a cheeky teaser that doesn’t show any new footage but is tailormade to pump you up.

An April '19 launch date means you’ll know the last person standing (or, sitting on the Iron Throne) by about May, as this final season only consists of six episodes. All six eps will air express from the US on Foxtel’s Fox Showcase channel, and will be available to stream via Foxtel Now immediately after broadcast.

This also means the show will end before author George R.R. Martin can publish his final book, as Martin recently revealed to the Guardian that he’s still struggling to pen the resolution to his Song of Ice and Fire saga.

So, who’ll be the final survivor? Will Jon and Dany get to make out more? And do we need to be worried about Tyrion? Because we are! Very, very worried!

We sit in wait for a more specific date in April.
