Taylor Swift's New Song "The Archer" Has Fans Sobbing

The "Old Taylor" has returned, and you might want to emotionally prepare yourself.

It has been a while since we have heard the "Old Taylor". Sure, Reputation contained glimpses of her more vulnerable persona, and it certainly was raw and honest, but it was in a way that radically departed from her signature sound.

That's why people haven’t really known what to expect from her seventh studio album, Lover, set to drop on August 23, 2019. Will she continue singing about what we made her do, or return to writing tear-jerking tracks?

If the upcoming album’s debut single "Me!" is anything to go by, you may have been slightly concerned it was going to resemble some sort of "The Wiggles" singalong. But, thank God, it looks like we are going to be in for some "Old Taylor" after all.

In an Instagram Live chat, Queen Swift dropped new song "The Archer", which she clarified is not her next single, but a song from the album that she loves very much. Maybe not as much as her cats though.

Already sitting in the top spot on iTunes, "The Archer" resurrects her 1989 sound, with a soft and slow-building crescendo, gentle vocals, and the kind of vulnerability that makes you want to give her a reassuring hug.

Let’s just say, the internet is an emotional mess.

Like releasing a new song wasn't exciting enough for Swifties, Taylor also announced during the Instagram Live that she will include 120 pages of her diaries in her deluxe album editions. Yes, her actual handwritten diaries. Try not to pass out.
