Taylor Swift Has Finally Entered "Woke Bae" After Political Stance on Instagram

Taylor Swift has decided she doesn't want to be silent about her political beliefs anymore.

There's an old idea that one should keep their political beliefs to themselves, lest they get into a heated debate with someone who doesn't share them. It's why our parents, or grandparents even, might not disclose who they have (or will) vote for in political elections.

It was apparently an idea that very-famous-person Taylor Swift had decided to subscribe to. That is, until now.

Despite being tight-lipped about the past few tumultuous years, Swift has finally revealed her political views on Instagram.

She took to Twitter to denounce her home state's Republican candidate for her attempts to derail LGBTQIA+ rights and for voting against acts that protect domestic violence victims as well as equal pay for women.

"In the past, I've been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now," Swift wrote on the 'gram.

"I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin colour, gender or who they love."

She then urged her fans to educate themselves and then vote for their preferred candidate. 

So, why was she silent this whole time?

Some conspiracists believe it's because she actually supports some gnarly views and is a sort-of icon among nationalists and white supremacists. Others believe it might be because she doesn't want to abandon her right-wing-leaning fanbase by espousing liberal ideas.

Others just think she's got a classic case of slacktivism; someone who fights hard online but when it comes to actually doing anything worthwhile, they are nowhere to be seen.

Regardless, we're excited for this new era of faux wokeness and can't wait for the drama that's bound to follow.
