Stay Calm: Stephenie Meyer Is Releasing New Twilight Book “Midnight Sun”

It's time to reignite your vampire obsession.

When the first Twilight movie came out in 2008, teenage girls everywhere fell in love with sparkly vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Although Stephenie Meyer's four-volume book series had already been published, it was the film that turned the saga into a cultural phenomenon. 

Of course, the movie inspired teens to actually read the novels. If you cast your mind back to 2008, you'll probably remember friends who usually never read anything talking about how they'd finished an entire book over one weekend.

Then came the most divisive issue of all: Were you Team Edward or Team Jacob? 

It was a truly chaotic time. 

However, after the release of the final flick, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, people's obsessions slowly dissipated. 

But there's a chance you're about to become strangely passionate about glittery bloodsucking creatures once again, because a new Twilight book is officially coming.

Meyer has revealed that she will finally publish Midnight Sun, which is a retelling of the story from Edward's perspective. You might have already read a snippet of it when the manuscript leaked online 12 years ago. 

The author teased the announcement for the new book on her website and production company's social media accounts by using a countdown clock, before appearing in a prerecorded video broadcast on Good Morning America. 

"I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on August 4," she said.

"It's a crazy time right now, and I wasn't sure if it was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long, it didn't seem fair to make you wait anymore."

Publisher Little, Brown said Midnight Sun will revisit Edward's romance with pale human Bella Swan. 

"This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting beautiful, mysterious Bella is both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his long life as a vampire," they said.

"As we learn more fascinating details about Edward's past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he let himself fall in love with Bella when he knows that he is endangering her life?" 

Well, it looks like we're going to find out in August.
