Ralph Fiennes and Jodie Comer Could Be Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey in Netflix's "Matilda"

This should be interesting.

Earlier this year, it was announced that New Zealand director Taika Waititi had signed on to write, direct and executive produce two animated event series based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Netflix.

Although, that wasn’t the only Roald Dahl tale to be reimagined. The streaming service revealed that Matilda, The BFG and The Twits would also be recreated.

Since then, we hadn't heard much more news about the various projects.

Well, it looks like they’ve at least started the casting process for Netflix and Working Title's Matilda, because Deadline has reported that Ralph Fiennes is attached to star as the evil Miss Trunchbull.

We're fully expecting to hear that iconic Voldemort laugh.

If you need a quick recap, Miss Trunchbull is the sadistic headmistress of the elementary school Matilda attends. Even if you only watched Matilda as a child, the image of Miss Trunchbull forcing a child to eat an enormous cake in front of his classmates is probably etched in your memory for eternity.

Some people wish the role had gone to a woman instead, considering Miss Trunchbull is played by Pam Ferris in the 1996 film. However, it appears the Netflix reboot will be based on Tim Minchin's musical instead, which has been running in London since 2011.

In the musical, the character of Miss Trunchbull is also played by a male.

While no other cast members have been confirmed at this stage, Jodie Comer has been tipped to take on the role of Miss Honey, Matilda's kind and endearing teacher.

Considering we're used to seeing her, uh, kill people a lot as Villanelle in Killing Eve, it'd be interesting to see her portray such a sweet character.

Matilda The Musical's original director Matthew Warchus (Pride) is on board for the adaptation, while Dennis Kelly is writing the screenplay.

The release date of the reboot hasn't been confirmed yet, but we'll keep you updated.
