Taika Waititi Is Making Two “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” Animated Series for Netflix

It's time to find a golden ticket.

If you think you're busy, consider all the projects that New Zealand director and actor Taika Waititi has on his plate and you'll probably feel a bit better.  His film Jojo Rabbit recently won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, and he's also working on Thor: Love and Thunder, Next Goal Wins, The Mandalorian and Free Guy.

Yeah, it's hectic.

Now, the filmmaker has also signed on to write, direct and executive produce two animated event series based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Netflix.

The first series will be a reimagining of Charlie, while the second will be a completely original take on the Oompa-Loompas. However, Netflix has assured everyone that both shows will "retain the spirit of the original Roald Dahl story while expanding the world and its characters beyond the pages."

Aussie Netflix announced the news today on Twitter, asking Waititi to please wake up "from his nap".

Additionally, the streaming service noted that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory isn't the only Roald Dahl tale that will be reimagined. Matilda, The BFG and The Twits will also be recreated for Netflix, but it's not clear what format they'll take.

Basically, all your childhood dreams are about to come true.

It's safe to say people are very excited.

Although, some stans are slightly disappointed that they won't get to see Waititi as a live-action Willy Wonka.

There's been no confirmation as to when the series will land on Netflix, but we'll keep you updated.

Until then, play this on repeat.
