Passengers Had to Be Rescued From a Dreamworld Ride After It Stopped Mid-Air

Eight passengers had to be rescued from a Dreamworld ride after a safety sensor was triggered on Monday afternoon.

According to Sky News, passengers on Dreamworld’s Buzzsaw ride were stuck in their seats for about 30 minutes before they were eventually brought down.

A spokesman for the theme park said no one was placed at risk by the stoppage, and that the “auto-stopping and resetting of rides is a regular and essential part of operations.”

Here's a video of the Buzzsaw in (working) action.

Four months ago, an incident on Dreamworld’s Thunder River Rapids ride culminated in the death of four park-goers.

Dreamworld and its sister site, WhiteWater World, were shut for 45 days, and the Thunder River Rapids ride was demolished as a result.

Visitor numbers fell by 63 per cent following the venues’ reopening in December. Revenue has slowly grown each month, indicating punters are regaining their confidence. However, February's revenue was still 35 per cent lower than February 2016's figure.
