Not So Fast: Donald Glover Is Not Getting a "Lando" Spin-Off, Lucasfilm Says

Because Donald Glover has had enough good news this week, Lucasfilm has clarified he won’t be starring in a Lando Calrissian spin-off anytime soon.

At the Cannes premiere for Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy was reported saying, "We think the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian," which excited the legions of Glover fans who have been trying to make do with his minor, be-caped appearances in trailers.

However, the French publication Premiere has since issued a clarification, after being reached by Lucasfilm. Turns out, a language barrier may have unreasonably raised everyone’s hopes.

"A translation error was made following our interview with Kathleen Kennedy," Premiere wrote.

Kennedy’s comment was instead meant to be: "We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it’s not relevant."

Not relevant right now? We’d like to point Lucasfilm to Glover’s recent Star Wars sketch on Saturday Night Live, where he and the only other three black people in the entire franchise enjoy a reunion.

Solo arrives in cinemas next week. We look forward to Disney giving a swift green-light to that smooth, sultry Lando spin-off once Solo makes a billion dollars at the box office.
