"This Is America" (In Australia): Childish Gambino Just Broke His Own Chart Record

**Australia loves Childish Gambino almost as much as America loves him.**

Donald Glover has done the unthinkable and unseated Drake from the top of the charts in America, ending Drizzy’s 15-week reign.

It’s a new record for his musical alter ego, Childish Gambino, with "This Is America" becoming his first #1 on the Hot 100. Fueled by a scintillating and incisive music video that has accumulated more than 100 million views in just over a week (as well as the fact that the song just bangs), it was able to dethrone Drake’s "Nice for What", which had only recently superseded "God’s Plan" as the top song in the States.

But how’s it going in countries not listed in the song's title?

Well, in Australia, "Nice for What" remains in pole position, but "This Is America" managed a Top Ten debut on the ARIA charts—coming in at #7—which is a local record for Gambino.

His previous best effort, "Redbone", only peaked at #27 in August of 2017, despite having been released 10 months earlier and soundtracking most of our lives for an entire 12-month period.

Australia can boast the second-best global debut for Gambino’s newie. The song just missed out on the top ten in New Zealand and Scotland, where it placed eleventh. It landed at #14 on the UK singles charts and #15 in Ireland. Meanwhile, it has a long climb ahead of it in Germany, where it only notched #97.

The question is, will it be able to hold off Drake’s new song about "Pikachu"?
