Noah Centineo Will Star Alongside Dwayne Johnson in “Black Adam”

He'll be playing Atom Smasher.

The internet's boyfriend, Noah Centineo, is joining Dwayne Johnson in New Line and DC's upcoming Black Adam film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the To All the Boys I've Loved Before star will portray the metahuman hero Atom Smasher, a density manipulator renowned for his ability to alter his size, strength and durability.

We've known since late 2019 that Johnson is set to star as the movie's titular character. In November last year, he posted a picture to Instagram, with the caption reading, "This role is unlike any other I've ever played in my career and I'm grateful to the bone we'll all go on this journey together."

Centineo's character, Atom Smasher, has featured on-screen before in an episode of The CW's The Flash, while the titular character first appeared in DC Comics during the 1940s as a villain who had been corrupted by power.

The flick is a spinoff from Warner Bros. and New Line's Shazam! starring Zachary Levy, which grossed $US365 million worldwide last year.

At this stage, not much is known about the plot. However, it's been revealed that Black Adam will focus on the DC character that was originally created as the archnemesis for the hero now known as Shazam. Except, he's evolved into a more complex and conflicted antihero. His origins are tied to the fictional Middle Eastern kingdom of Kahndaq and his powers are supernatural.

Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) is directing the film, and Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo is producing alongside Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions.

Black Adam is scheduled to land in U.S. theatres on 22 December 2021, and Centineo is still set to star in the live-action Masters of the Universe film as well.
