Hold Up: Where Was Josh Sanderson in “To All The Boys 2”?

We need to talk about it.

If you spent your Valentine's Day watching To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, you definitely weren't the only one. Since the highly anticipated sequel landed on the streaming service, the internet has been alive with thoughts about the film.

There has been robust debate over whether Lara Jean (Lana Condor) should end up with Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) or John Ambrose McClaren (Jordan Fisher). Plus, people have spent hours contemplating why no one has ever looked at them the way Peter looks at Lara Jean.

Oh, the feels.

Considering the movie only arrived on Netflix last week, we don't want to spoil anything for those of you who haven't watched it. However, we can confirm that it's just as cute as To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Lara Jean's younger sister Kitty still delivers the best one-liners.

Yet, there is one glaringly obvious issue with the flick that needs to be discussed: Where on earth was Josh Sanderson?

If you need a quick reminder, Josh (Israel Broussard) is Lara Jean's next door neighbour and the ex-boyfriend of her older sister Margot (Janel Parrish). Lara Jean used to have a massive crush on him, which he realised after receiving one of her love letters. It complicated their relationship for a bit, but by the end of To All the Boys I've Loved Before, it seemed like they were on good terms.

So, why didn't he make an appearance?

As it turns out, Broussard had already told Entertainment Tonight that he wouldn't be returning for the sequel. Naturally, however, fans expected to see him in the flick considering he's mentioned in the book version of P.S. I Still Love You.

It's possible that Broussard wasn't able to commit to filming because he was busy working on Into the Dark, a horror anthology series, or upcoming thriller Fear of Rain, which is currently in post-production.

On the other hand, it could also have something to do with Broussard's history of racist tweets. In an interview with Elle, Condor was asked about her thoughts on his actions, and she seemed less than impressed.

"For me personally, I'm the one that has to answer these questions," she said. Did tension between the co-stars prevent him from returning to set? In saying that, Broussard has since apologised for the tweets.

Alternatively, given that the sequel centres on the love triangle between Lara Jean, Peter and John Ambrose, it's also probable that due to his limited role in the novel, they chose to focus solely on those characters this time around.

Either way, Josh stans are simply not okay.

Will Josh be in the third film?

While Josh isn't in the third novel Always and Forever, Lara Jean, the actor told Entertainment Tonight that he believes he'll be coming back for the final film. Although, at the moment, it's not clear how large his role will be.

The third flick has already been filmed, but the release date hasn't been confirmed. We'll update you as soon as we find out.

Only one thing is for certain: there better be #JusticeForJosh.
