Naomi Watts Will Be Your New Fave Frenemy in "Game of Thrones" Prequel

Step aside Cersei Lannister, Naomi Watts has arrived.

Even though we'll definitely still have to wait until mid-2019 for the release of the tense final season of Game of Thrones, it seems like our Westerosi adventures may not end completely after all.

Talks of a prequel to Game of Thrones have been ongoing since at least 2016 but finally seem to be set in motion with the announcement of Naomi Watts as the lead character in a new series.

According to Deadline, Watts will play a "charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret", which definitely sounds like a suitable replacement for a Cersei-less world.

The prequel will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and will focus on the origins of the White Walkers as well as follow the legendary figures of the Stark family and stories from Essos.

Despite being years away, fans already have some ideas in mind for this "socialite" Watts is slated to play.

Please let Naomi Watts be playing Rhaenyra Targaryen.

But anyway, the earliest we'll get a glimpse of this show is probably 2020 so keep dreaming in the meantime.
