George R.R. Martin Teases “Game Of Thrones” Prequel, Despite Not Actually Having Finished “Game Of Thrones” Yet

Hold the door phone. George R.R. Martin may have plans to keep writing GOT books even after A Song of Ice and Fire is over.
This year, Game of Thrones, the TV show, outpaced George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series.
And yet, despite the show-runners now having to come up with new ideas for Martin’s characters (“erm, maybe Tyrion can just sit around and drink wine with Greyworm and Missandei?”), George seems in no rush to finish his final two tomes.
In fact, while speaking to press at the Emmys yesterday, where GOT collected its second consecutive prize for Best Drama, he began teasing a prequel based on the storied past of Westeros.
“I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones, so there’s a lot of material there and I’m writing more,” he said, as reported by Deadline.
“At the moment we still have this show to finish and I still have two books to finish so that’s all speculation.”
Die-hards will note that a few flashbacks have already weaseled their way into the current series, mostly centered on young Ned Stark, young Cersei and (*wipes away a million tears*) young Hodor.
Yes, we will take this prequel series too, thank you.
