Macca’s Has Unveiled a Fairy Bread McFlurry and the Nostalgia Is Too Much

You know I’m going to eat this 100s and 1000s of times.
You all probably know by now that it’s McDonald’s Australia’s 50th birthday and they’ve been celebrating with not just one bang, but with discounts, new releases and fun extras.
Their latest release is a gift from the Aussie gods: the Birthday McFlurry, which is essentially just the fairy bread version of the classic McFlurry. Childhood me is screaming.
This morning, Macca’s announced the new product, consisting of Custard Pie, creamy soft serve ice cream, drizzled in caramel sauce and topped off with the one and only: sprinkles. It honestly looks like fairy bread and ice cream made a baby and I’m not mad.
I know the return of the Grand Mac and Mac Jr was exciting, but I reckon any other surprises from Macca's are going to have to go above and beyond to beat this one.
We’re not just calling this the ‘fairy bread McFlurry’ because that’s what it looks like, McDonald’s Australia Marketing Manager Amanda Nakad even confirmed that fairy bread was their inspo.
“Our new McFlurry flavour was inspired by iconic Aussie birthday party favourites including Birthday Cake and Fairy Bread, to create a nostalgic and delicious dessert that will put everyone in the birthday spirit,” she said in a press release.
“New McFlurry flavours are always a hit with our customers, so we thought this would be a delicious way to continue our 50-year celebrations.”

And yes, the Custard Pie isn’t just coming back with the McFlurry, it’s also coming back on its own (massive yes!).
“We will also be reintroducing a much-loved and highly requested crowd favourite, the Custard Pie, giving Aussies even more reason to celebrate our 50-year milestone,” Ms Nakad said.
So, you’re probs wondering when and where you can start scoffing these bad bois. Well, the limited-edition desserts (sad) will be available from Macca’s restaurants on 7 July 2021, but you’ll be able to order them on delivery from Uber Eats from 30 June 2021.
Those aren’t the only food gifts Macca’s are giving us. Keep your eyes peeled ‘cos they’re planning to drop a whole lot more goodies in the coming months to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
