Maccas Re-Released Some Szechuan Sauce and the "Rick and Morty" Fandom Fought Furiously Over It

Never get between Rick and Morty fans and their Szechuan sauce.

Rick and Morty fans have made headlines again after getting rowdy at McDonald's restaurants around the United States after they ran out of their limited Szechuan sauce giveaways. 

McDonald's had been giving out the sauce in response to the first episode of Season Three. The episode featured a plotline where Rick had to time-travel to get his hands on the 1998 Mulan promotion where McDonald's gave away a supposedly delicious Szechuan sauce with their nuggets. Since this episode aired, lucky hoarders who had kept the sauce in their possession for the past 19 years have been selling sachets of the sauce on eBay for unbelievable amounts of money.

So, McDonald's got in on this action just for one day to promote some new chicken tenders they're releasing.

But if you weren't one of the first twenty people to rock up at some stores, you were simply outta the game.

Fans created literal angry mobs outside of some McDonald's restaurants chanting variations of "we want the sauce" after some chains weren't delivered a single sachet. Obviously, yelling at young employees for a sauce is something we've come to expect from a certain faction of the Rick and Morty fanbase, which has garnered a reputation for jerk-like behaviour.

McDonald's offered a semi-apology for pretty obviously trolling the entire fanbase not giving into market demand and keeping the prices of the much-coveted sauce high by giving so few out.

The best fans in the multiverse showed us what they got today. We hear you & we're sorry not everyone could get some super-limited Szechuan.

But while they did offer their apology, it fell on deaf ears.

And, as predicted, some lucky fans who did manage to get their hands on the sauce saw this as a good opportunity to make a quick few (potential thousand) bucks like others had done in the past.
