Someone Paid Nearly $15 Grand for 20-Year-Old Maccas Nugget Sauce

Some loaded eBay buyer has paid a cool $US14,700 ($AUD19,523) for a special edition nugget sauce from 1998.

Yes, you read that right. Some people in the world apparently have that kind of bank to throw at probably poisonous single-servings of old (but delicious!) sauces.

McDonald’s released the special sauce 19 years ago to coincide with the launch of Disney’s Mulan.

It was a hit with chicken nugget lovers around the world, but like all good things, it came to an end.

Our collective desire for the Szechuan sauce lay dormant until April this year, when a new episode of Rick and Morty featured a plot about the two going back in time to get their hands on the coveted condiment.

McDonald’s has hinted that they may re-introduce the sauce due to its re-invigorated fan base (not to mention the Mulan remake set to be released next year).

Many on Twitter definitely had opinions on this purchase.
