Lana Condor Chats “Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken” and What it Means to Be True to Yourself

The star of Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before makes a splash in the latest DreamWorks Animation flick.

We’ve got the scoop on one of the biggest movies releasing these school holidays from actress Lana Condor.

Her first acting gig was as Jubilee in X-Men Apocalypse back in 2016, but you may know Lana Condor best as Lara Jean in the Netflix movie series To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Lana Condor now leads the all-new DreamWorks Animation film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.

Ruby seems like your typical teenage girl – she’s trying to fit in at school disguised as a human, has a high school crush, and lives with an over-protective mother, played by Aussie icon Toni Colette.

It’s not until Ruby breaks her mum’s rule to not set foot in water she discovers a big secret – she’s a descendant from warrior Kraken queens and is set to inherit the throne from her grandmother (played by Hollywood star Jane Fonda).

We got to chat with Lana about living her dream of playing a DreamWorks character, what she loves about her character Ruby, working on the film, and how mozzarella sticks landed her in detention.

Lana also shared some heart-warming advice for Student Edge members on self-discovery through your teenage years. (Spoiler alert - it's super wholesome.)
